Tech giant Google has included two EV charging companies, Monalee and Enkel, in its latest ‘Startups Accelerator: AI for Energy’ initiative.
Google has launched its AI for Clean Energy Accelerator programme, welcoming 29 startups across North America and Europe that are applying artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the global energy transition.
The ten-week equity-free programme, announced on 3 September, aims to provide mentorship and technical support to companies integrating AI into core energy services and products.
Among the selected participants are Monalee, a climate tech company focused on accelerating home solar and EV charging adoption, and Enkel, a Danish energy management specialist developing AI-driven solutions for EV charging infrastructure.
“We believe AI is a pivotal force in accelerating the essential energy transition,” said Google in its announcement.
“These groundbreaking companies are developing cutting-edge solutions, from electricity generation to grid operations and flexibility.”
Monalee has been added for its AI-powered platform, which streamlines the adoption of residential solar, storage and EV charging systems. The Boston-based company recently secured a US$10 million financing facility from Applied Real Intelligence (A.R.I.) to fuel its growth.
The technology uses machine learning algorithms to analyse residential properties and customise solar and EV charging solutions, effectively cutting out middlemen in the process.
The company’s approach addresses the complexity of integrating charging infrastructure with home energy systems, a critical pain point in the residential EV charging market.
Meanwhile, Denmark-based Enkel is bringing European expertise to the accelerator with its focus on intelligent energy management systems for EV charging infrastructure.
Enkel’s AI-driven solutions optimise EV charging station operations by predicting usage patterns, managing energy loads and integrating with renewable energy sources.
This approach has proven particularly valuable in Denmark, where the EV charging infrastructure has expanded rapidly in recent years, requiring sophisticated management systems to maintain grid stability.
The Google programme will provide participants with dedicated mentorship from Google experts and partners, hands-on technical support and access to Google’s AI tools and cloud infrastructure. The curriculum includes workshops on technology, infrastructure, user experience, product development, growth strategies and leadership.
