Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture; President and CEO: Hiroshi Otsuka; hereinafter “Musashi”) is pleased to announce that Musashi’s EV drive unit (e-Axle) which installed in a two-wheeled electric vehicle (EV) for Emobi Manufactury Private Limited (Head office: Bangalore, India hereinafter ” Emobi “) In India, home to the world’s largest two-wheeler market, the government aims to transition 80% of its two-wheelers to electric vehicles by 2030. The electrification of two-wheelers is progressing rapidly, ahead of four-wheelers. As part of Musashi’s E-mobility business expansion in India, in June 2024, the local joint venture company Musashi Delta e-Axle India Pvt. Ltd. commenced mass production of e-Axles for two-wheel EVs, establishing a supply system for local EV startup companies including Emobi.
Emobi’s two-wheel EV is compatible with the BaaS (Battery as a Service) service provided by Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (hereinafter “HEID”). Prior to full-scale commercial operation, Emobi’s two-wheel EVs underwent verification testing through a Proof of Concept (PoC) for approximately 18 months. Through interviews with drivers for last-mile delivery services and other business-to-business (BtoB) applications, the vehicles equipped with Musashi’s e-Axle received high marks in the following areas compared to conventional EVs:
• Smooth acceleration from start
• Superior pick up torque
• Improved acceleration performance
These evaluations demonstrate that the features of Musashi’s self-developed, lightweight, quiet, and high-performance e-Axle (EV drive unit) have been highly valued in actual operating environments.
Musashi will further deepen its collaboration with Emobi and actively promote expansion into regions beyond Bangalore. Through strengthening strategies toward carbon neutrality and promoting the widespread adoption of two-wheel EVs and E-mobility in the Indian market, Musashi remains committed to contributing to a harmonious and environmentally conscious global society.
