A Scottish health tech startup has travelled to Saudi Arabia to showcase its digital operating theatre scheduling platform to new markets across the Middle East.
Infix Support was chosen as a high growth potential Scottish company on the ABHI [Association of British HealthTech Industries] Middle East Accelerator, a 12-month programme aimed at building market opportunities in Saudi Arabia and UAE.
The company is also now trialling its operating theatre technology at PureHealth, the largest hospital operator in the Middle East, and opened its first international office in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.
ABHI supports the UK healthtech community to provide products and services that help people live healthier lives.
The year-long accelerator programme includes three trade missions to the Middle East, culminating in attendance at the World Health Expo in Dubai, the world’s largest healthcare event, between 9-12 February 2026.
Activity on the accelerator includes attending the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh and a reception at the British Embassy in Saudi Arabia’s capital, meetings with multiple private and public healthcare providers, a roundtable event at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, and visiting Nour Nouf Ventures to learn about how they back and support technology companies in the sector, hosted by His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Faisal Al Saud.
Sarah Marsh, Chief Operating Officer, and Peter Newman, Head of Product, are Infix’s two senior executives taking part in the ABHI accelerator programme.
Dr Matthew Freer, CEO and Founder of Infix, said: “Having successfully implemented our technology across Scotland in partnership with NHS Scotland and our health boards here, the Middle East quickly became our main target market. It is a region where digital adoption moves at an incredible pace, with world-class hospitals, healthcare professionals, and best-of-class private providers. The ABHI accelerator has built valuable connections for Infix, and we look forward to our next phase of growth in the Middle East.”
Infix won a NHS Scotland contract in 2024 aimed at reducing hospital waiting times by optimising theatre efficiency and accelerating the patient pathway nationwide. It is set to secure its latest external investment round before the end of the year.
