AI is the biggest tech bubble since the dot-com crash — and I should know. I ran Europe’s largest technology analyst firm (Butler Group) from 1990–2005 and watched multiple bubbles burst, including the famous dot-com one. Today’s AI hype? Mostly old technology (neural networks have been around 30–40 years) running on much faster hardware and huge amounts of data. It looks like magic, but it’s not groundbreaking — yet the people selling it want you to believe it is. The same playbook as dot-com: companies and investors say anything because almost no one contradicts them. Short-term impact is massively overhyped (no, it’s not becoming conscious tomorrow), while the real, meaningful change will come much later — after new breakthroughs that haven’t arrived yet. History shows how this ends: the pros cash out at the top, regular people buy the hype and get left holding the bag when it bursts. Be very careful if you’re thinking of investing in the current AI frenzy. Bubbles always end the same way. #AIBubble #TechHype #InvestingWarning DotCom2.0 #AIReality @Martin Butler
