RoadGrid, an emerging player in the electric vehicle (EV) charging space, has secured ₹12 crore ($1.33 million) in a Pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by Venture Catalysts, with a significant roster of strategic and angel investors joining the cap table.
The round saw participation from Kamal Puri (Chairman, Skyline Group), Indian Angel Network (IAN), FAAD Network, LetsVenture, and high-net-worth individuals including Vrinda Goyal (Pace Group), Haresh Patel (Arthanomics), and Maneesh Shrivastav (Alpha Value).
Solving the Compatibility Crisis with Patented Hardware
One of the most significant barriers to EV adoption in India is the lack of standardized charging connectors across vehicle types. RoadGrid is addressing this head-on with its patented universal EV chargers.
Unlike traditional units that are often vehicle-specific, RoadGrid’s hardware is designed to support:
-
Two-Wheelers & Three-Wheelers: Catering to the massive last-mile delivery and personal mobility segments.
-
Four-Wheelers: Supporting the growing passenger car and commercial fleet market.
-
Dual Operation: The company manufactures chargers for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) while simultaneously building its own Public Charging Network.
Strategic Partnerships with Industry Giants
RoadGrid has already moved past the prototype stage, establishing itself as a key supplier for major automotive players. Current highlights of their deployment include:
-
Fleet Support: Providing charging solutions for Euler Motors’ commercial fleets and supporting the nationwide infrastructure for VinFast’s upcoming India entry.
-
Oil & Gas Integration: Active deployments at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) sites.
-
Smart City Footprint: Significant presence in Indore and Noida, with a confirmed pipeline of over 1,000 chargers scheduled for rollout.
Vision 2026: Scaling the Software-First Ecosystem
While hardware is the foundation, RoadGrid is positioning itself as a deep-tech company. The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the development of its cloud-based software platform. This platform will offer:
-
Remote Operations Management: Real-time monitoring for station owners.
-
Optimized User Experience: Seamless discovery, booking, and payment for EV drivers.
-
Manufacturing Scale-up: Expanding production capacity to meet the demands of their 1,000+ charger pipeline.
“India’s EV transition is at an inflection point. RoadGrid is building a rare combination of deep-tech hardware and scalable software that addresses the real market gap across vehicle categories,” said Dr. Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, Founder of Venture Catalysts.
