‘PM ki spine hoti hogi?’: Aakash Chopra shreds Shehbaz Sharif with brutal reminder amid T20 World Cup row

Former India opener Aakash Chopra leaves no chance of taking a dig against Pakistan on social media. The cricketer-turned-commentator ridiculed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on social media while reacting to reports that the PCB may change their mind on boycotting the match between India and Pakistan at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

“But Pak PM ne toh announce kiya ‘nahin khelenge’. PM ki bhi toh koi spine hoti hogi? Zubaan ke pukke hote honge? (But Pak PM had announced ‘won’t take field’. PM must have a spine? He must be a man of his word?” Chopra wrote in a post on X.

Chopra’s remarks follow discussions between ICC deputy chairman Imran Khawaja and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore. Aminul Islam, president of the BCB, attended the meeting as well.

Pakistan was informed that a boycott would have negative effects, including financial fines for the board. In response, they have issued a number of demands to change their stance. Following Naqvi’s meeting with Sharif on Monday, a final decision will be made.

Prior to announcing the boycott of the high voltage encounter, Naqvi had met with Prime Minister Sharif. Since then, PCB had used a Force Majeure provision, the validity of which was questioned by the ICC.

The boycott episode began after Bangladesh were replaced with Scotland by the ICC when the former declined to visit India for their World Cup matches citing security concerns.
