HYDERABAD, Feb 27 (KNS): Three professionals of Kashmiri origin have developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform aimed at the early prediction of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, potentially years before clinical symptoms manifest.
The innovators—Burhan Latief Dar, Dr. Shafaq Muzafar, and Zulkifl Hussain Rabbani—are the founders of CoralAI Research (CAIR), a health-tech startup based here.
According to a company communication accessed by the News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), their multi-modal diagnostic engine analyses a combination of brain imaging, blood biomarkers, and retinal scans. By integrating this with demographic and lifestyle data, the platform seeks to identify biological markers during what experts call the ‘silent window’—a period of five to ten years when neurological damage accumulates without noticeable symptoms.
The startup recently garnered attention after representing India at the Web Summit Qatar 2026 in Doha. The platform was showcased among over 30,000 global participants and hundreds of investors.
“The data collected to detect any disease is simply a signal from a system. We are designing our model to account for every possible fluctuation to make detection as accurate as it should be,” Zulkifl Hussain Rabbani, Co-founder and Research Lead, who is also a PhD candidate in Physics, told the news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
Dr. Shafaq Muzafar, the company’s Medical Lead, stressed the clinical significance of the breakthrough. “CoralAI’s system is designed to catch disease in the window where intervention could be most effective,” he said.
Following the response at the Web Summit, CoralAI is in the process of finalising its pre-seed funding round. The capital will be used to accelerate research, clinical validation, and regulatory approvals.
“We’re three people from Kashmir who happen to sit at the intersection of medicine, physics, and data science. The next step is to bring on the right partners who believe, as we do, that the future of neurology is predictive, not reactive,” said Burhan Latief Dar, Co-founder and Data Science Lead. (KNS)
