NIPS Zainapora Secures Second Prize at UT-Level Startup Mela 2026


 SHOPIAN, Jan 30 (KNS): In a significant achievement for the district, the National Innovations Public School (NIPS) Zainapora has clinched the second position at the Union Territory-level event, “Idea to Impact: Annual Startup Mela 2026,” held at JKEDI Campus, Bari Brahmana, Samba.

 

The victory underscores the institution’s role in fostering innovation and practical skill-building among youth in the region. NIPS, recognized for its emphasis on entrepreneurial education, continues to position Shopian as a emerging centre of young talent and creative enterprise within Jammu & Kashmir.

 

The winning team—Mantasha Nazir, Eliza Bhat, Hurain Farooq, and Pakeeza Hilal—presented a sustainable startup idea titled “Cotton Comfort,” which earned praise from the jury for its social relevance and practical application. Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah presented the students with a cash award of ?70,000, commending their innovative approach and vision for entrepreneurship.

 

The achievement reflects the dedicated mentorship provided by the school leadership, including Principal Mr. Lateef Bhat, Chief Coordinator Mr. Shahid Manzoor, and Ms. Misbah. Officials from the JKEDI District Centre Shopian and the district administration acknowledged the win as a result of sustained efforts through innovation programs, workshops, and mentorship drives aimed at nurturing startup culture at the school level.
