Healthcare-focused venture capital firm W Health Ventures has announced the first close of its second fund at INR 550 crore, moving closer to its target corpus of around INR 630 crore.
The fund is expected to invest in 8–10 early-stage healthcare startups, with individual cheque sizes ranging between INR 30–50 crore.
Founded in 2019, W Health Ventures invests in healthcare businesses across India and the United States. The firm follows a company-creation and incubation model, working closely with founders to build and scale ventures from inception. It operates alongside venture studio 2070 Health to develop new healthcare companies.
The second fund will focus on areas such as AI-enabled healthcare services, chronic care, preventive care, geriatrics, oncology, and other healthcare delivery models.
Capital deployment from the first close has already begun, and the firm expects to complete the final close in the coming months.
The first company incubated under Fund II, Everhope Oncology, has been launched in partnership with Narayana Health. The venture aims to build an integrated oncology care platform. W Health Ventures is also incubating a US-based psychiatry-focused startup designed to expand access to advanced treatments for patients with treatment-resistant depression. Other segments under evaluation include longevity and preventive health, geriatrics, and chronic pain management.
Through its first fund, W Health Ventures backed companies such as Nivaan, which focuses on chronic pain management; diabetes care platform BeatO; obesity management startup ElevateNow; paediatric care provider BabyMD; and parenting platform Mylo in India. Its cross-border portfolio includes mental health platform Wysa and AI services firm Reveal HealthTech.
