AI is creating an enormous number of jobs: Nvidia CEO

AI is “creating an enormous number of jobs” says Nvidia CEO

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has sought to counter growing concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) displacing workers, arguing that the technology is generating jobs rather than eliminating them.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Milken Institute, Huang said AI represents a significant opportunity for economic expansion, particularly in the United States. In a conversation with journalist Becky Quick, he described AI as an industrial-scale generator of jobs, positioning it as a driver of re-industrialisation rather than a threat to employment.

“The first thing that AI is doing right now is creating an enormous number of jobs,” Huang said.

The remarks come amid rising public debate over the pace of AI adoption and its potential impact on labour markets, particularly among younger workers entering an increasingly automated economy.

Huang rejected the notion that automation would replace entire roles, arguing instead that AI tends to take over specific tasks within a job rather than eliminate the broader function of that role. He suggested that such concerns come from a misunderstanding of how work is structured, with individual tasks forming only part of a wider set of responsibilities.
