Afrinity Joins FasterCapital’s EquityPilot to Scale Travel Fintech in Africa

FasterCapital has selected Afrinity, a Nairobi-based travel and fintech platform, to join EquityPilot, a program designed to help startups move from concept to execution.

AFRINITY aims to combine curated travel experiences, community engagement, and embedded fintech tools to make travel across Africa more accessible and financially manageable.

FasterCapital’s EquityPilot will work with AFRINITY in the first 30–60 days to refine execution priorities, strengthen go-to-market messaging, and align initial product milestones for early deployment and user acquisition.

Africa’s tourism sector is drawing renewed interest from younger, digitally-native travelers seeking authentic experiences and easier ways to manage travel finances.

Platforms that bridge curated local experiences with fintech features aim to address service fragmentation, limited access to authentic cultural encounters, and gaps in travel budgeting tools for domestic and regional travelers.

Afrinity is a combined travel discovery and fintech platform that targets travelers looking for safaris, cultural exchanges, and beach getaways while providing savings, budgeting, and secure currency conversion tools.

The platform also seeks to engage young content creators and local businesses through loyalty incentives and community features that encourage discovery and economic participation.

Timing Shifts in traveler preferences toward experiential travel, rising digital adoption among African consumers, and growing interest in youth-led content creation create a window for a solution that integrates curated travel and financial planning. AFRINITY positions itself to respond to these trends by targeting Kenyan and regional travelers and creators.

What FasterCapital Will Provide:

  • Execution-focused milestone planning and hands-on advisory to refine AFRINITY’s product and go-to-market priorities
  • Fundraising readiness guidance and pitch refinement without implying funding guarantees
  • Access to FasterCapital’s mentor network and introductions to relevant ecosystem stakeholders
  • Support on operational priorities including user acquisition strategy and partnership outreach

During the initial phase, FasterCapital and AFRINITY will validate core user journeys, prioritize a minimum viable product for budgeting and currency conversion features, refine acquisition channels tailored to youth and domestic travelers, and prepare investor-facing materials that articulate market opportunity and traction plans.

Hesham Zreik, Founder and CEO of FasterCapital, said: ‘We’re excited to support AFRINITY through EquityPilot. Our team will focus on execution milestones and connecting the startup with the right ecosystem stakeholders.’

RB MWAURAJR, Founder & Chairperson of AFRINITY, said: “AFRINITY aims to make African travel more discoverable and financially manageable while creating opportunities for local talent. We look forward to working with FasterCapital to prioritize the features that matter most to travelers and creators.”

Near-Term Roadmap Over the next 90 days, AFRINITY plans to complete a focused MVP for core fintech features, run targeted acquisition pilots with youth-focused channels, and begin integrating initial local business partners to test the curated experiences marketplace.
