From a bold startup in Qatar to a budding regional health-tech contender, At-Home-Doc has sought to redefine how patients access medical care. Launched in 2015 by twin brothers Hesham and Hatem El Feshawy, the company began as one of Qatar’s first on-demand medical services, bringing licensed doctors, lab tests, and medications directly to patients’ homes—often within 90 minutes. Operating under the parent company MediHealth Solutions, At-Home-Doc’s mission was simple yet ambitious: to make high-quality primary care as accessible and immediate as ordering a taxi or meal online.
In its early years, the company balanced regulatory hurdles and cultural barriers with support from regional accelerators and early-stage investors, including backing from Qatar Development Bank. By 2023, it had raised US $1.9 million in a pre-Series A round led by Tawasol Holdings (the investment arm of Elaj Group), strengthening its technical foundation and expanding into new markets. This period also marked a strategic partnership with Elaj Group to integrate At-Home-Doc’s digital platform into hospital and diagnostic networks in Saudi Arabia, setting the stage for regional scalability.
As the business matured, At-Home-Doc began repositioning itself under a new trade name, Meta Doc, reflecting its broader ambitions beyond home visits. The rebrand signaled a shift toward a connected digital ecosystem—linking teleconsultations, diagnostics, prescriptions, and insurance in one seamless platform. The “Meta” in Meta Doc represents the company’s aim to transcend physical care boundaries, offering continuity between virtual and in-person medicine. Though it originated in Qatar, Meta Doc has since expanded operations into markets like Egypt and Australia, with Qatar serving as its launchpad rather than its permanent base.
Through its evolution, Meta Doc continues to champion accessible and patient-centric care. Its economic impact lies not only in job creation and technology development but also in encouraging a cultural shift toward proactive, home-based healthcare across the Middle East and beyond. By merging the intimacy of the traditional house call with the efficiency of digital health, Meta Doc positions itself as a bridge between local healthcare realities and the global movement toward smarter, connected medicine.
