Day 2 wrap: MedTech World Asia 2026 ends on a high with Startup Pitch Competition

Two days in, and the MedTech World Asia 2026 summit showed no signs of slowing down. Day 1 had set a high bar: cross-border MoU signings, government keynotes, eight company showcases, and no shortage of frank talk about capital. But today belonged to the finale everyone had been waiting for. Doors opened once more at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for a final round of panels and showcases, all building toward the one fixture circled on nearly every delegate’s agenda: the MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition.

The exhibition floor and Startup Village remained lively through to the closing bell, with delegates moving between booths for one last look at the innovations on display. The fourth edition of MedTech World Magazine, officially launched during the conference, was also circulating around the venue, giving attendees a first glimpse of the latest issue. Over in the 1:1 matchmaking room, founders, investors, and partners kept the schedule full late into the afternoon, squeezing in a final round of introductions before the summit wrapped.

From the Greater Bay Area to the capital stack

The day opened with the panel The Greater Bay Area Advantage: Building MedTech at the HK–China Intersection, which unpacked how GBA policy, Shenzhen’s manufacturing base, and Hong Kong’s regulatory gateway combine to create a launchpad for MedTech companies with global ambitions. That was followed by a keynote on The New Obesity Paradigm: Drugs, Devices, Data and Policy, making the case that sustainable obesity management will take an integrated ecosystem of medicine, technology, behaviour, and policy rather than any single drug or device.

The capital conversation picked up with From Series A to IPO: Navigating the Asian Capital Stack, where investors walked through the milestones and metrics that move a MedTech company toward a credible path to public markets in Asia.

Four more companies take the stage

Day 2 brought its own round of company showcases, giving four more founders and CEOs the Main Stage spotlight to make their case to a room of investors, hospital leaders, and partners:

  • Lindo Technology Group
  • Tresquare Technologies
  • Gero
  • UBTECH Robotics

The showcases were followed by a session on Advancing the Da Vinci Ecosystem in China, before the agenda turned to Building for Half the Market: Clinical and Commercial Strategies in Women’s Health.

State of HealthTech 2026

One of the day’s standout sessions came from Verge HealthTech Fund, whose leadership took to the Main Stage to present “State of HealthTech 2026.” The presentation offered delegates a data-driven view of where HealthTech investment, innovation, and adoption stand across the region heading into the second half of 2026, providing a fitting complement to the funding and capital conversations that ran throughout both days of the summit.

From there, the agenda moved to the panel From Pitch to Scale: What Makes MedTech Startups Win in Asia, examining what separates funded startups from those that truly scale.

An invite-only look at cross-border exits

Away from the Main Stage, one of the day’s true highlights unfolded behind closed doors. An invite-only luncheon, “Cross-Border Exit Architecture for Asian MedTech Companies,” powered by CFGI, brought together senior investors, founders, and finance leaders to discuss deal structuring, tax and entity architecture, and what it actually takes to close a clean cross-border exit as Asian MedTech companies scale toward liquidity events, dual-track M&A, and IPO readiness.

Robotics, market access, and the road to the pitch

The afternoon continued with Beyond VC: Strategic Partnerships, Corporate Venture, and Alternative Funding Models, followed by The Next Generation of Medical Robotics in Asia, which examined surgical platforms, robotic bronchoscopy, and next-generation minimally invasive systems across the region. This was followed by the panel India as a MedTech Powerhouse: Manufacturing, Innovation & Market Access, rounding out the day’s exploration of where the next wave of growth is coming from. And then a short presentation from Pegasus Tech Ventures.

The headliner: MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition

Then came the moment two days of showcases, funding conversations, and cross-border dealmaking had been building toward: the MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition, co-hosted this year with Startup World Cup and powered by Ascend CRO, Blue Goat Cyber, and Malta Enterprise.

Ten finalists, selected from a highly competitive global applicant pool, took to the Main Stage to pitch solutions spanning AI-driven elder and pet health monitoring, needle-free biosensing, next-generation surgical robotics, and breakthrough organ preservation technology:

After a closely fought round of pitches, Ella Fung, CEO & Co-Founder of Rosalind Dx, was named winner of the MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition Asia 2026, for the company’s accessible prenatal test that detects chromosomal abnormalities in pregnancy. Rosalind Dx’s dPCR-based kit runs five times faster. It is cheaper for labs than existing options, putting accurate prenatal screening within reach of more parents — building on a founding team that has previously developed more than ten US IVDs, including PerkinElmer’s prenatal test and Roche’s first liquid biopsy test.
