Hyderabad:Pinit, a Hyderabad-based sari service founded by entrepreneur Sangeetha Rajesh, has launched doorstep shopping in the city, with saris sourced directly from weavers, deliveries made through electric vehicles and more than 150 people employed, most of them women.
Customers can select saris and choose a convenient time for a Pinit team member to visit their home, a statement said. They can then keep the saris they want. The company said its staff work across sales, styling, customer care and delivery, with flexible roles available for women.
Pinit said it placed regular orders directly with weavers, including those who have unsold stock, and expects this to give them more predictable income and access to more customers. Its all-electric delivery fleet produces zero tailpipe emissions, according to the company.
“Every sari carries a weaver’s skill. Pinit takes that skill to the doorstep, creates dignified jobs for women, and does it without polluting our cities,” Rajesh said.
Rajesh, founder of Sangeetha’s Saree Emporium, has worked in the aree business for 16 years across retail, exhibitions, design and live-video commerce. Her business, she said, has sold more than one million saris, conducted over 690 exhibitions across India and built an online following of more than eight lakh. She recently opened a 5,000 sq. ft. emporium in Banjara Hills.
