Gwanak Lab, a South Korean startup developing artificial intelligence for financial decision-making, announced on October 2 that it has raised 300 million won (approximately USD 228,000) from Seoul Techno Holdings.

Gwanak Lab plans to use the investment to advance its financial decision AI engine and expand operations within the financial sector. The company will increase its development team and strengthen service infrastructure to meet financial institutions’ requirements for security, data processing, and network-isolated environments.
Founded in 2023, Gwanak Lab develops AI-powered solutions that help financial institutions make business decisions by combining financial data and AI technology. The company provides AI tools applicable to various financial tasks including customer churn prevention, debt collection, and policy loan screening across banking, credit card, insurance, and public finance sectors.
Gwanak Lab’s decision engine automatically integrates both structured data such as transaction history and credit information, and unstructured data including customer service records and transaction descriptions, to connect all information about a single customer. The system applies time-series forecasting models to project how a customer’s status may change in the future, presenting ranges rather than single-point estimates. Beyond predicting customer churn or delinquency risk, the platform distinguishes itself by suggesting which customers require priority attention and what responses are necessary, offering actionable judgment criteria with traceable reasoning based on diverse statistical methodologies.
Gwanak Lab is currently validating technical feasibility through proof-of-concept projects with financial institutions. The company plans to convert initial collaborations into full contracts and expand its business by enabling financial institutions to adopt AI-driven decision capabilities incrementally while maintaining existing systems. In July, Gwanak Lab extended into the B2C market by launching GLAB, an investment service for individual investors based on the same AI engine.
“Gwanak Lab is a team gaining outstanding customer response in the market based on solutions optimized for financial AX adoption,” said Cha In-hwan, CEO of Seoul Techno Holdings. “We expect the company to lead innovation in financial decision-making through its unique capabilities combining Seoul National University core technology, PhD-level statisticians, and financial experts with over twenty years of experience.”
Seung Hyeon-chan, CEO of Gwanak Lab, said, “The bottleneck in the financial sector is not models but data. Unstructured data such as customer service records, which are frequently used in recent analysis, can only be utilized after human intervention, and changing that is the problem we solve. With this investment, we will enable financial institutions to adopt AI in decision-making while maintaining their existing systems.”
