India has 73 unicorns – worth at least $1 billion – in 2025, with another 150 ‘future’ unicorns on the verge of reaching the valuation in the next three to five years, according to a new report.

ASK Private Wealth and Hurun India released the 5th ‘Unicorn and Future Unicorn Report 2025’, rating unlisted Indian startups formed in the 2000s worth at least ₹1,710 crore this year based on their current investment round valuation.

According to the research, companies in India’s start-up ecosystem have grown significantly, reaching the $1 billion mark. Of these, Ai.tech reached a valuation of $1.5 billion in just three years. The startup studio and holding company powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning was identified as the fastest unicorn, which took three years to cross the milestone.

Notably, the startup reached this milestone without any outside capital, making it one of the few bootstrapped unicorns. It operates in the AI and machine learning sector, focusing on building AI-driven businesses. Its portfolio includes market leaders like Advertising.tech and Media.net, with over 1,600 employees globally.

All about the company

The company is identified as ‘bootstrapped,’ meaning it has funded its own growth without reliance on traditional external venture capital funding. In January 2022, the company was founded by entrepreneur Divyank Turakhia.

According to his LinkedIn profile, the Indian-born serial tech entrepreneur has founded, scaled and exited industry-leading companies over the last 25+ years, including Ai.tech.

He also founded Media.net, one of the largest online advertising businesses worldwide, but later sold it in 2016 for $900 million.

In an interview in 2024, he spoke to Rest of World’s editor-in-chief, Anup Kaphle, about why he started an AI company.

“That company you mentioned is the fourth one. And after the third one, which I did back-to-back, I took a long break, which was awesome. I’d said it was a two-year minimum; it became a three-year break. And then started the fourth one. I built that as a holding company from which we can build and incubate multiple businesses. AI became a word that everybody knows now, starting around November 2022 when ChatGPT launched. And everybody thought it was awesome.”

As per the recent report, Glance, a consumer technology startup, reached a valuation of $1.8 billion in just one year. E-commerce players Zepto ($5.9 billion) and Udaan ($1.8 billion), edtech company PhysicsWallah ($3.7 billion), and finance firm Yubi ($1.5 billion) were the next to reach the milestone, each requiring two years.

Ai.tech joined the list of other companies such as BharatPe ($2.9 billion), CRED ($3.5 billion), Pristyn Care ($1.4 billion), and Zetwerk ($3.1 billion), all of which achieved the billion-dollar mark within three years.
