WTW introduced a new solution on Tuesday aimed at providing greater healthcare price transparency for employers.
WTW is a global advisory, broking and solutions company. Its new solution is called the Health Transparency Optimizer and will allow employers to evaluate healthcare costs along with quality and utilization data. The solution is designed to be used by “all employers with a desire to improve efficiency in healthcare,” according to Drew Hodgson, financial sales and commercialization lead at WTW.
It will provide access to negotiated healthcare price information for hospital, ambulatory and professional providers, as well as access to facility quality data over several clinical categories.
In addition, the Health Transparency Optimizer will offer budgetary estimates for each major payer network and visibility into centers of excellence and alternative networks in employers’ key markets. Lastly, it will provide an analysis of social, economic, clinical, environmental and climate data affecting the employer’s population in the communities they live.
WTW consultants will partner with employers to run and go over the results, and will then help guide employers on next steps based on the results, whether that’s choosing a new carrier partner, designing a specific provider network for their employee population or engaging in direct contracting with providers.
Hodgson said the launch of the Health Transparency Optimizer is a response to a long-standing gap in healthcare.
“Transparency has been needed in healthcare for years. … More and more clients are demanding transparency and ROI on solutions and the new Transparency in Coverage requirements allowed us to achieve that,” Hodgson said. The Transparency in Coverage rule requires health plans to publicly disclose healthcare pricing and cost-sharing information.
Employers can either purchase the Health Transparency Optimizer independently or receive access through an existing consulting relationship with WTW.
The launch of the Health Transparency Optimizer comes as employers are dealing with skyrocketing healthcare costs. Employers project a median 9% rise in healthcare costs in 2026, according to the Business Group on Health. WTW hopes to help employers manage these costs with its new solution.
“Our goal is to lower cost to employers and their employees by shining a light on the cost and quality of healthcare for employer-sponsored health plans,” Hodgson said. “This solution has the potential to fundamentally change the way healthcare is both used and delivered by navigating people to the most efficient points of care.”
He added that WTW anticipates adding more services and deeper analytics for employers throughout 2026.
