MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A company co-founded by a physician is connecting traveling health care professionals with furnished, short-term housing after its founder experienced the challenge firsthand.
Dr. Christina Henderson co-founded Reliable Residence, a company dedicated to helping health care professionals and others who travel for work find furnished, short-term places to live.

“It’s like all the stress combined into one,” Henderson said of searching for housing as a traveling professional.
Reliable Residence began as a basic tracking system before expanding into a full-service company.
“It actually started with an Excel spreadsheet, where we would list homeowners on one column and we would list traveling professionals on the other and I would personally play matchmaker with my co-founder,” Henderson said.
The company started with around 10 units and has grown to well over 200 spare rooms, rentals and apartments.

Henderson said Reliable Residence differs from other short-term rental platforms by working directly with hospitals and offering additional services like roommate matching and in-person property visits before listings go live to verify safety.
Henderson said she is always working to make the service better for the people who use it.
“It’s a constant growing with them and making sure that we’re fitting their needs so they can come and work for our community,” Henderson said.
Henderson said affordability for medical students and traveling professionals remains a priority for the company.
“It really is near and dear to my heart to medical students, to help them find something that’s affordable,” she said.
Reliable Residence has units in Madison, throughout Wisconsin and in Gainesville, Ga. Henderson said she hopes to expand into all 50 states.
