As AI voice agents move from demos to real-world deployment, the gaps in traditional telephony infrastructure are becoming harder to ignore. Bengaluru-based Vobiz.ai is stepping into that gap with a fresh approach.

The startup has raised $1 million in a seed round led by Piper Serica VC Fund, as it looks to strengthen its engineering backbone and go-to-market efforts.

Co-founded last year by Suman Gandham and Vikash Srivastava, Vobiz.ai is building an API-driven, low-latency voice infrastructure designed specifically for AI-led conversations—something legacy systems weren’t built for.

Today’s telephony stack, while reliable, often struggles with the demands of real-time AI interactions—latency issues, limited programmability, and fragmented developer experiences being some of the key pain points. Vobiz.ai’s platform is designed to address exactly these challenges.

It offers capabilities like instant DID provisioning, low-latency SIP trunking, real-time streaming for large language model integrations, and AI-optimized call bridging. Layered on top are features such as noise cancellation, audio enhancement, and compliance workflows aligned with Indian telecom regulations—making it easier for developers to build and scale voice AI applications.

The timing is notable. With the global voice AI market projected to reach $32.47 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 29%, the underlying infrastructure layer is fast becoming as critical as the applications themselves.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, Vobiz.ai plans to expand its DID inventory, deepen carrier partnerships, and roll out advanced observability and enterprise-grade compliance tools—areas that could define reliability and trust in AI-led communication.

The startup operates in a competitive space alongside players like Exotel, Plivo, Twilio, Telnyx, and Ubona.

But as conversational AI continues to evolve, the opportunity may not just lie in building smarter agents—but in enabling them to speak, listen, and respond seamlessly.
