A glowing capsule, a one-hour full-body scan, and a promise to catch disease before it starts: this is what preventive medicine looks like in its most futuristic form.
Swedish healthcare startup Neko Health, founded by medical researchers and physicians, is bringing its flagship diagnostic model to the United States with its first New York City location opening this summer.
The company has already expanded across several European markets, where its system uses an illuminated scanning pod to capture thousands of ultra-detailed images of the body in a single session. The result is a rapid, data-rich health assessment designed to flag early signs of risk long before symptoms appear.
At the center of Neko Health’s approach is speed and scale: a comprehensive preventative scan completed in just 60 minutes, reframing the traditional check-up as something closer to a full-body mapping experience than a routine doctor’s visit.
Inside the screening process
At Neko Health’s Covent Garden facility in London, the diagnostic process blends automation with hands-on clinical care.
Patients change into a provided robe and slides before entering a brightly lit scanning pod, where an automated voice guides them through each step. As a light beam slowly sweeps across the body, more than 2,000 hypersensitive images are captured, building a detailed map of the skin and flagging potential abnormalities in real time.
A series of physical assessments follows, grounding the high-tech scan in more traditional measures of health. Nurses test grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer, fit monitoring cuffs around the ankles to assess circulation, and run quick eye strength evaluations.
Bloodwork is integrated directly into the system: samples are drawn on-site and sent through a wall-mounted pneumatic tube into an in-house lab, allowing analysis to begin almost immediately.
The result is a tightly coordinated workflow where data is gathered, processed, and interpreted in a single, continuous loop, compressing what is typically days of testing into a single, streamlined visit.
Once the clinical data is compiled, a doctor walks the patient through an in-depth analysis of their test results.
The consultation takes place in front of a large curved screen that displays a digital rendering of the patient’s body, while it’s interface breaks down specific health categories, showing detailed metrics for cardiovascular health, including pulse wave, heart sound, and blood pressure. The system also catalogs high-resolution close-ups of individual skin marks and moles, allowing the doctor to point out any changes or areas of concern.
While full-body preventative scans of this kind are often associated with high-end concierge medicine and can cost thousands, the startup positions itself as a more accessible alternative. In the U.K., the comprehensive scan is priced at just under £300.
Pricing details and an official opening date for the New York City location are expected to be announced later this summer.
