Sila raises $300 million to scale battery anode production as AI and defense replace EV as growth engine

Sila closed a $300 million round on July 21, 2026, led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures, to fund Phase 2 of its Moses Lake, Washington campus toward 250 gigawatt-hours of silicon anode capacity. The raise comes as rival battery startups cut projects and lay off staff amid a U.S. EV slowdown, with Sila pivoting its pitch to AI hardware, robotics, aerospace, and defense customers who care more about energy density than EV adoption rates.
