Ghanaian startup Seevcash, a remittance and peer-to-peer money transfer platform serving African diaspora communities across Ghana, the US and beyond, has raised US$333,000 in funding through the Stellar Community Fund (SCF) and its affiliated programmes.
Seevcash enables families to send and request money across borders, with features designed around the real financial moments that matter most.
The US$33,000 funding spans four separate awards, including two Community Fund grants and two ecosystem growth programmes. The SCF is an open application awards programme operated by the Stellar Development Foundation, and draws on community input to support developers and startups building on the Stellar network.
“Every award from the Stellar Community Fund has come at a moment when we needed it most,” said Dawuda Iddrissu, CEO and co-founder of Seevcash. “It has let us move faster on the roadmap without slowing down on what matters, getting more of the diaspora using Seevcash and using it often.”
The company is marking the funding with another milestone – the launch of a Seevcash Visa card, which lets users spend their funds anywhere Visa is accepted.
“We fixed the sending. Then our users kept asking us the same question: where’s the card?”. Partnering with Visa is our answer,” said Cosmos Appiah, chief technology officer of Seevcash.
The card works online and in-person, anywhere Visa is accepted, and builds on Seevcash’s existing partnership with MoneyGram, which strengthens how funds move into the platform.
