Pelvic pain startup Hale is winding down.
Founded in 2022 by Gaia Salizzoni and Vittoria Brolis, the Italian company’s telehealth platform offered care for pelvic, vulvovaginal, and other gynecological conditions.
While pelvic pain impacts one in four women – often associated with major life stages like pregnancy and menopause – Hale was an early entrant, streamlining care with at-home tools and clinical guidance. Creating a platform for chronic pain, the company secured €350,000 in 2023, expanding its offering with data-driven personalized guidance and medical consultations. Hale built a community of over 25,000 members, screened more than 16,000 patients, and managed a network of 2,000 clinical partners across Italy.
Announcing the closure via LinkedIn, the company said: “We were building in a category the market is only now beginning to fund, and we couldn’t make Hale financially sustainable and to keep scaling the way we wanted to… When you pioneer a market, part of your role is to lay the foundations so that the ones who come next can build on it and take it further.”
Hale’s closure comes as pelvic pain remains an underserved priority across women’s health. Continuing to build the category, Origin recently secured a Series B to scale virtual and in-person therapy. Meanwhile, several musculoskeletal platforms, like Sword and Hinge Health, as well as fitness studios, like Pvolve and Alo Yoga, have added targeted programs.
As Hale winds down operations, its library of resources, symptom-screening test, and clinician referrals will remain available, and its Berlin headquarters will stay open.
