DAEJEON — A startup campus for young entrepreneurs is opening in the Eoeun-dong and Gung-dong areas of Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
Yuseong-gu said on the 8th that it will operate the “Eogung-dong Startup Campus” in the Eoeun-dong and Gung-dong areas through December, connecting the startup capabilities of local universities with neighborhood space to support entrepreneurship by young people.
Working with Chungnam National University, the district will link the university’s talent pool with local startup infrastructure to provide hands-on entrepreneurship training, tying student startup activity to the neighborhood and strengthening the startup base in the Eogung-dong area.
The Eogung-dong Startup Campus is tied to “Startup Practicum,” a two-credit course in Chungnam National University’s regular curriculum, and will run every Monday for a total of 14 sessions. Rather than simply studying startup theory in a classroom, students will develop technology-based business ideas and carry out practical startup projects, experiencing the full entrepreneurial process.
In the second half of the year, Yuseong-gu plans to develop a “Yuseong Entrepreneurship Studies” curriculum with Chungnam National University and to expand the campus function in stages, including running startup education programs at public facilities.
Lee Jun-heon, head of Chungnam National University’s Future Entrepreneurship Center, stressed that “in university startup education, it is important to create opportunities for students and researchers to take on challenges and gain experience directly in the field.”
