Ready to enter the US MedTech market? Here are 5 reasons to start in Florida

The United States is the world’s largest MedTech market. For any company with global ambitions, it is the market that matters most, and also one of the hardest to enter. From 5 to 7 May 2027, MedTech World North America returns to the Hilton West Palm Beach as the route in for international innovators. Founders, investors, health system leaders and strategic partners will be in the same place for three days.

Here are five reasons to be there.

It builds on 2026 edition that worked

MedTech World North America 2026 | West Palm Beach drew more than 600 attendees from 26 countries, with about 80% of them coming from the USA. That is the audience an international company wants to reach. Investors made up 22.4% of attendees, and startups were the largest group at 32.4%.

The programme covered hospital procurement, US market entry, where capital is flowing, surgical robotics, women’s health and cardio care beyond the hospital. Investor and partner names around the 2026 event included Mayo Clinic Ventures, Cleveland Clinic Ventures, SV Health Investors, Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, Boston Scientific and Cedars-Sinai Ventures.

The response was strong enough that MedTech World has made Florida its long-term US base. The 2027 edition is the next step in that commitment, with expanded international participation across startups, investors, healthcare systems, manufacturers and strategic partners.

The practical side of entering the US, in one place

Getting into the US market involves regulatory strategy, a reimbursement plan and the right commercial partners. Companies that treat these as separate workstreams often lose time and money.

The 2026 programme showed how the event handles this. Sessions on entering and scaling in the US argued for aligning regulatory planning, reimbursement strategy and commercialisation early. An invite-only luncheon, FDA, Payers & Hackers, looked at how regulatory, reimbursement and cybersecurity issues now affect each other at launch. Other panels covered how startups can win over enterprise health systems and their procurement teams.

In 2027, expect to compare FDA routes such as 510(k), De Novo and PMA, and to hear how reimbursement shapes adoption. The room also includes hospital systems, corporates and service providers who can become your first US customers or commercial partners. Service providers were the second-largest attendee group in 2026, at 27.1%. That means regulatory consultants, law firms and advisers are on site and available for conversation, not only on stage.

Investors are the centre of the event

This is an event where capital is in the room. The 2026 edition brought together venture funds, corporate venture arms, hospital investment groups and family offices. Pre-scheduled 1:1 meetings ran continuously throughout the show, in a dedicated networking area where introductions turned into investment discussions.

For founders, the format makes fundraising less about cold outreach. For investors, it is a concentrated view of vetted, early and growth-stage deal flow from around the world. Panels in 2026 examined how hospital venture funds act as strategic collaborators, offering clinical validation and pilot access as well as capital.

Startup Tracks: new for 2027

For the first time, MedTech World is introducing Startup Tracks, a focused format that groups startups into dedicated categories so founders can pitch and network within communities already active in their field. The aim is more targeted conversations with investors, corporate leaders and ecosystem partners who care about a specific area.

There are six categories:

  • AI, Digital Health and Data
  • Surgical Innovation and Robotics
  • Cardiovascular, Metabolic and Chronic Disease
  • Neurotech and Mental Health
  • Oncology and Diagnostics
  • Longevity, Rehabilitation and Women’s Health

Applications are open now. The first 50 presenting startup slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Startup Pitch Competition

The competition remains the centrepiece for early-stage companies. In 2026, ten selected startups pitched live on the main stage to a panel of investors and industry figures. Startup pass holders get a startup booth, access to premium networking events, free consultancy from industry veterans, PR exposure through MedTech World channels, and personal introductions to potential customers and investors. Past winners describe it as an effective route to investor attention.

Closed-door forums for conversations you won’t hear on stage

Some of the most useful conversations at any conference never happen on a stage. MedTech World’s closed-door forums are built for them.

The Investor-Only Forum is limited to active participants in the MedTech investment ecosystem. That includes venture capital firms, angel investors, family offices, corporate venture arms and hospital investment representatives. Each application is reviewed, so the room stays relevant and grounded in real investment experience. The CEO-Only Forum gives company leaders the same kind of private space.

With no audience and no sales pitches, peers can compare notes on what is working, what has gone wrong, and what they would do differently. These are the candid exchanges about capital allocation, scaling and hard lessons that rarely come up in a panel.
