Angolan Fintech CYTO Secures $40,000 to Expand Financial Automation Solutions - Tech In Africa

Angolan financial technology startup CYTO has secured $40,000 in angel funding through Catalytic Africa’s co-investment programme to expand its financial automation platform and strengthen support for businesses managing invoices, transactions, and tax compliance.

The funding combines $20,000 from investors affiliated with the African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and a matching $20,000 contribution from timbuktoo, a pan-African innovation initiative supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The transaction was facilitated by the Cape Verde Business Angels Association (ABAC), which supports early-stage investment opportunities across African markets.

Founded in 2024, CYTO is headquartered in Luanda, with operations extending to Paris and New York. The startup was co-founded by Joachim Valot, Tamara Lerner, and Thiebault Husson.

Its technology platform enables businesses to automate administrative and financial processes, including invoice management, supplier verification, transaction reconciliation, and tax reporting.

By integrating these functions into a single digital system, CYTO aims to reduce manual paperwork, improve financial visibility, and help businesses comply with regulatory requirements.

The company is positioning its services around the growing demand for digital financial management tools, particularly as Angola introduces mandatory electronic invoicing requirements.

According to reported company figures, CYTO has generated more than €110,000 in cumulative revenue, with monthly revenue reaching approximately €9,000.

Its technology has reportedly reduced certain tax-submission processes from seven days to just one day, demonstrating the potential efficiency improvements available through financial automation.

Before securing the latest funding, CYTO received $20,000 in equity-free support through the UNDP-backed timbuktoo fintech accelerator.

The startup has also participated in entrepreneurship initiatives designed to support emerging African technology companies.

CYTO is among four startups from Angola, Cameroon, and Zambia supported through Catalytic Africa’s matching investment approach.

The programme has mobilised approximately $189,238 in co-investment across these businesses, combining private angel financing with additional catalytic capital.

The latest investment will support CYTO’s efforts to strengthen its product offering, expand its customer base, and improve digital financial management for businesses.

Beyond the funding amount, the transaction highlights the growing importance of alternative investment mechanisms in helping startups outside Africa’s largest venture capital markets access early-stage financing.
