New Delhi, Feb 18 (KNN) Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the WAVES Creators’ Corner on the second day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
Designed as a live, hands-on innovation workspace, the pavilion demonstrates applied use cases of Artificial Intelligence across the AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) ecosystem.
During the inauguration, the Minister described the Creators’ Corner as a strategic extension of the Ministry’s flagship initiatives, including WaveX, Waves Bazaar and the Create in India Challenges.
He conducted an extensive walkthrough of the pavilion, engaging with entrepreneurs from the WaveX startup cohort as well as representatives from global firms such as Adobe, Netflix, Sony and Amazon.
A total of 51 AVGC-XR and Media Tech startups, supported by WaveX, are showcasing AI-powered tools and immersive technologies at the pavilion.
The Minister interacted with several founders, including winners of the Bhasha Setu and Kalaa Setu challenges, which focus on language technologies and cultural-tech innovation.
Among the technological highlights were real-time game development platforms, prompt-to-cinema live studios, and an Agentic AI-powered newsroom developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services and BharatGen, enabling automated editorial workflows.
Demonstrations also featured real-time voice cloning and multilingual interaction tools by Sarvam, immersive 270-degree AI film screenings curated by National Film Development Corporation of India, face and voice re-aging technology by Sony Research India, and marker-less motion capture systems by Whistling Woods International using DSLR cameras and smartphones.
The Minister also participated in a fireside conversation with Shradha Sharma of YourStory at the Media Lounge. In the discussion, he emphasised the transformative societal impact of AI, particularly in enabling talent from rural India to build globally competitive ventures.
Highlighting the importance of future-ready skills, Vaishnaw commended the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) for integrating AI into creative education to align students with evolving industry requirements.
