M&A NEWS: Document Crunch, an Atlanta Construction AI Startup, Acquired by Public Tech Company Trimble - Hypepotamus

A growth stage, construction-focused AI company in Atlanta has been acquired by the public-based company Trimble.

Document Crunch (previous Hypepotamus coverage here) will join Trimble, a Colorado-based company developing positioning technologies for surveying, construction, agriculture, public safety and mapping purposes.

A Look Back

Document Crunch has built a construction-specific AI document analysis and risk management, spanning the full project lifecycle. The platform has been used and deployed on over 10,000 projects to date. The acquisition will allow Trimble to incorporate document intelligence and compliance automation across the Trimble® Construction ecosystem, strengthening existing workflows in project management and construction ERP systems, according to a press release.

Document Crunch took the stage at Venture Atlanta in 2024 and raised its $21.5 million Series B that same year.

CEO and attorney-turned-entrepreneur Josh Levy told Hypepotamus that the “quintessential American Dream is building a company toward either acquisition or IPO,” so such an outcome was always on his mind.

“The only goal when we started was to build something meaningful, and everything else has unfolded from there,” he added.

Levy and the team were introduced to the NASDAQ-listed company through Document Crunch’s VC partners.

“It became very clear to me early on that they would be an excellent long-term strategic partner. We spent years building that relationship, which led to a Trimble investment in our Series A and ultimately a strategic partnership,” Levy added. “The trust built over that time made this feel like a natural next step.”
