denarius, a fintech specialized in financial solutions for the healthcare sector, held this Tuesday a new edition of “denarius Sport Innovation” together with Auren, a global professional services firm providing consulting, corporate finance, and business advisory services. The event, aimed at generating real collaboration opportunities within the sports industry and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, brought together startups, investors, and prominent figures from the sports, health, and innovation sectors in Madrid.
The gathering, hosted at Auren’s offices in Madrid and moderated by sports journalist Nico Abad, brought together around 100 investors and featured more than 30 startups registered in the call for applications. The initiative aims to establish itself as a meeting point between entrepreneurial talent, investment, and sport, in a context of growing interest in projects related to health, wellbeing, and technology applied to the sector.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Entrepreneurship Award, which recognizes sports professionals capable of connecting entrepreneurship and impact within the innovation ecosystem. This year’s award was given to former Olympic gymnast Almudena Cid, in recognition of her professional career and her commitment to innovation and the development of new projects in the sector.
The award was presented by Javier Cánovas, Director of the UAPO Foundation, an organization focused on comprehensive support for cancer patients through physical exercise and rehabilitation. He emphasized the importance of promoting initiatives that connect sport, health, and innovation from an entrepreneurial and social perspective.
Among the participating startups were projects such as Niche Mobility, focused on smart technology applied to mobility and e-bikes; Impulsyn, a job and talent platform for the sports and wellness industry; Votum Labs, a biotech laboratory focused on musculoskeletal health and physical recovery; OX, specializing in personalized hyperbaric oxygen therapies; and Hunty, a digital platform offering experiences and activities in the hunting sector.
“We are seeing more and more interesting projects linked to sport, health, and innovation, but there is often a lack of spaces where entrepreneurs, investors, and industry players can naturally connect. Sport Innovation was created precisely with that idea in mind: to generate useful connections and give visibility to high-potential projects,” said Álvaro Sánchez, CEO of denarius.
José Manuel Calderón, former international basketball player and investor linked to the sports entrepreneurship ecosystem, took part once again in this edition of “denarius Sport Innovation,” having previously attended earlier versions of the event. The initiative has already delivered tangible results in past editions: more than 40 startups participated previously, and several projects progressed in their fundraising processes after the event. Among them, startup Podoks received investment from Calderón himself after he discovered the project during Sport Innovation.
The event also counted with the support of leading companies in the sports and health sector, including HSN, Premium Health Sport, Sports Clinic KOM, Fundación UAPO, Velites, OFM, and Focus Lab.
