Egyptian construction-tech startup Kuadra has closed a funding round led by Cairo-based Edafa Venture and is preparing to launch what it calls the first unified AI-powered platform for managing the full project lifecycle at contracting companies — a bet that one of the country’s biggest but least digitally mature sectors is ready to automate its procurement and project management workflows.
Founded in 2025, Kuadra was formed to bridge a technology gap that its chief executive Ahmed Salem argues has left contractors processing enormous volumes of technical documentation and project data by hand, despite the sector being unusually well suited to AI applications. The company’s founding team combines expertise in artificial intelligence, business development and operations.
The platform Kuadra is preparing to launch automates core procurement and project management functions, allowing contractors to analyze tender documents, extract technical specifications, allocate work packages to suppliers and subcontractors, and evaluate bids through a single AI-powered system, according to Salem. The core promise is time: contractors typically rely on specialist teams to manually review tender documents that can run to hundreds of pages, a process that takes days or weeks and delays bid preparation. Kuadra’s platform, Salem said, produces structured executive summaries within hours — capturing material specifications, dimensions, brands and country of origin — helping contractors accelerate procurement, improve bid accuracy and reduce human error.
Salem framed the approach as augmentation rather than replacement. By embedding the expertise of experienced engineers into AI-powered workflows, he said, the platform enables younger engineers to complete technical tasks faster and more accurately, freeing them up for engineering analysis, design and innovation rather than repetitive administrative work.
Edafa Venture, Salem said, joins as a strategic partner supporting Kuadra’s commercial growth and technology development rather than serving purely as a source of capital. Neither the round size nor the round stage was disclosed, and the deal followed Kuadra’s participation in GITEX.
The company has two additional near-term moves in view. It plans to extend the platform into oil and gas, where procurement processes, technical documentation and supply chain operations resemble those of construction closely enough that the same tooling should transfer. And it is in advanced discussions to establish a strategic partnership with one of Egypt’s five largest construction companies — a deal that, if it lands, would materially expand deployment. The counterparty was not named.
Kuadra’s product launch lands at a moment when Egyptian industrial groups have been racing to embed AI operationally. El Sewedy Electric, one of the country’s largest industrial conglomerates, disclosed earlier this month that it had cut process times by an average of 84% across 30 completed AI projects spanning manufacturing, legal, human resources and customer service, in partnership with IBM. And Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is separately weighing a joint venture with UAE-based AIQ to serve as a specialized AI platform for the petroleum sector — a signal of the same appetite Kuadra is pitching to.
Beyond the platform itself, Kuadra says it is running training programmes for engineering firms and professionals on the effective use of AI tools, framed as an attempt to lift productivity and engineering standards across the sector rather than a pure product play. Salem’s stated ambition, he said, is for Kuadra’s platform to become “the technological backbone” of construction companies, enabling faster, data-driven decision-making, lower operating costs and streamlined project execution — with the goal of lifting the competitiveness of Egypt’s construction industry as it embraces digital transformation.
