In an exclusive conversation with ET Now, Prateek Maheshwari, co-founder of PhysicsWallah, shared the company’s ambitious plans for expansion and growth. PhysicsWallah is set to launch 75 new tech-enabled physical learning centres across India, while also strengthening its presence in existing exam categories. Maheshwari emphasised that despite India having 25 crore students, the company currently reaches less than 2% of this learner base. “We are barely scratching the surface, and there’s a long way to go,” he noted.
Average course fee just Rs 4000 per year – less than Rs 10 a day
When asked by Anurag Shah how PhysicsWallah balances technology with expansion, Maheshwari explained the company’s unique model. “We have created tech-enabled offline learning centres, which is a very unique business model. These are physical centres, but technology is at the heart of everything we do,” he said. Currently, 93% of learners are taught online, leveraging the scalability and affordability of the digital mode. He highlighted that the average course fee is Rs 4,000 per year, which is less than Rs 10 per day, even cheaper than a cup of chai in India. This approach, he added, allows PhysicsWallah to reach deeper into the market and organise India’s largely unstructured education sector.
PhysicsWallah revenue targets for 2026
On revenue targets for 2026, Maheshwari said the company expects continued strong growth, building on the previous year’s performance. “We have shown very strong growth in both top-line and bottom-line metrics, and we expect to grow more than 20% in revenue next year,” he revealed.
PhysicsWallah posted a nearly 70 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit, reaching Rs 69.7 crore in the second quarter (Q2) of FY26, up from Rs 41.1 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company reported a net loss of Rs 127 crore in the previous quarter, as per regulatory filings.
