Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg personally made the announcement, praising Shah’s “builder mentality and global perspective.” He said he looks forward to making WhatsApp the best service for billions of people and millions of businesses. Outgoing WhatsApp head Will Cathcart, who led the app for over seven years, called Shah the right person to take it forward. Kunal Shah started CRED in 2018 with just $1 million of personal capital.
