In a major step towards strengthening India’s education, startup, and innovation ecosystem, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) organised the Northern Region AIM Dialogue.
The main objective of the conference was to promote incubators, encourage inclusive innovation and strengthen collaboration between states and the central government.
Representatives from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Delhi participated in the regional conference. Apart from this, startup councils, incubators, industry experts, CSR partners, educational institutions and members of the startup ecosystem also attended the event.
Discussions on Strengthening Innovation and Startups
Special discussions were held during the conference on strengthening the incubation ecosystem, expanding state-led innovation programmes and increasing collaboration between the government, academia, industry and startups.
The programme highlighted that innovation-driven education and startups can play a major role in the country’s economic growth. It also stressed the need for a strong innovation network to create entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for youth in emerging sectors.
Innovation Important for the ‘Viksit Bharat’ Vision
Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of CGC Landran, Sardar Satnam Singh Sandhu, appreciated the efforts of Atal Innovation Mission and said that AIM is creating collaborative platforms at the regional level that are accelerating India’s innovation-driven growth journey.
He emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat.” He also stated that Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir have strong entrepreneurial potential among youth and collaboration between the two states will create new opportunities for startups and industries.
Strong Support for Incubators
Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission at NITI Aayog, said that incubators are the backbone of every successful startup ecosystem. They play a vital role in nurturing new ideas and transforming them into businesses.
He said that AIM is working towards providing incubators with better infrastructure, mentorship, funding support, and market access. According to him, programmes like AIM Dialogue help build strong networks among states, industries, academic institutions and startups.
Focus on Healthcare and MedTech Innovation
A special session on “Incubators in Hospitals” was also organised during the conference. The session was led by Dr Ashish Chaudhary, Director of Aakash Healthcare.
The discussion focused on promoting innovation in the healthcare and MedTech sectors through hospital-based incubation models. Experts highlighted that startups and new technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the healthcare sector.
Punjab-Jammu & Kashmir Incubation Consortium Launched
One of the major highlights of the programme was the launch of the “Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir Incubation Consortium -PI-RAHI.” The initiative aims to create new opportunities for startups, youth, and industries in both states while strengthening regional innovation partnerships.
Experts believe that this initiative will help establish better coordination between the education sector, startups and industries.
AIM Dialogue Emerges as a Strong Platform for Collaboration
The AIM Dialogue is being seen as an important platform for knowledge sharing, policy discussions and strategic collaboration. The programme focused on promoting innovation at the local level while strengthening partnerships at the national level. The conference was also attended by Startup Punjab Joint Director Deependra Dhillon, ISBA CEO Prasad Menon, NITI Aayog Programme Lead Pratik Deshmukh and several other experts.
