Agilitas Sports Raises Rs 225 Crore from Nexus Venture Partners and Rainmatter to Accelerate Growth - Indian Startup Times

Bengaluru-based sportswear and athleisure company Agilitas Sports has raised Rs 225 crore in a fresh funding round led by existing investor Nexus Venture Partners and Rainmatter. The round includes a Rs 200 crore follow-on investment from Nexus Venture Partners and Rs 25 crore from Rainmatter.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen product research and development, design capabilities, manufacturing infrastructure, retail expansion, technology, talent acquisition, and brand-building initiatives as the company looks to expand its footprint in the growing sportswear and athleisure market.

Founded in 2023 by Abhishek Ganguly, former Managing Director of Puma India and Southeast Asia, Agilitas Sports operates across sports footwear, apparel, and accessories. The company is building a vertically integrated platform that combines research and development, design, manufacturing, and retail operations under one ecosystem.

Agilitas has been actively strengthening its manufacturing and brand portfolio over the past few years. In 2023, the company acquired Mochiko Shoes, a sports footwear manufacturer known for producing shoes for global brands such as Adidas and Puma. During the same year, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli transferred his sports and lifestyle brand One8 to Agilitas and invested Rs 40 crore in the company.

Prior to this round, Agilitas had raised Rs 100 crore (approximately $12 million) from Nexus Venture Partners in December 2023.

The company believes its integrated business model will enable it to respond faster to changing consumer preferences while creating a strong position in both domestic and international markets.

As part of its retail strategy, Agilitas is also expanding Sportsyard, its large-format multi-brand retail chain. The stores currently house leading global sportswear brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics, Puma, and Skechers.

According to the company, its first Sportsyard store in Bengaluru achieved profitability within just two months of launch. Building on this momentum, Agilitas plans to open 10 additional Sportsyard outlets during the current financial year.

The company also holds exclusive long-term licensing rights to manufacture and distribute the Lotto sportswear brand across India, Australia, and South Africa, further strengthening its presence in the global sportswear ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Agilitas expects ecommerce channels, including online marketplaces and its own digital platforms, to contribute between 25% and 30% of its overall revenue as it continues to scale operations and expand its consumer reach.

With fresh capital, an expanding retail footprint, strong manufacturing capabilities, and strategic brand partnerships, Agilitas Sports is positioning itself to become a major player in the sportswear and athleisure segment both in India and international markets.
