Oxford-incubated Lumenai secures pre-seed investment | ETIH EdTech News — EdTech Innovation Hub


Lumenai, a workplace behavioral intelligence startup incubated at the Oxford University Innovation Startup Incubator, has secured pre-seed investment from Corpora.ai Limited to expand its Human Capability Indexing technology.

The agreement combines funding with access to Corpora.ai’s research and information capabilities. Lumenai plans to connect its workforce assessment data with Corpora.ai’s knowledge system to provide employees and employers with development guidance.

Lumenai is targeting organizations preparing for employees and AI agents to work alongside each other. Its measurement application assesses attitudes, preferences, behaviors, and values alongside more established indicators such as qualifications, technical skills, and previous performance.

The startup says its assessments produce more than 50 structured data points that can be compared across workplace contexts. The methodology is intended to help employers identify how people make decisions, collaborate, adapt, and respond under pressure.

The size and terms of the pre-seed investment have not been disclosed. Lumenai has also not provided a product integration timetable.

Funding combines capital with access to Corpora.ai data

Corpora.ai provides research and information services for startups and corporate research and development teams.

Under the agreement, Lumenai users will be able to connect identified development areas with information intended to support decisions about training, skills, and workplace support.

Lumenai Founder and Chief Executive Officer Antonia Manoochehri says: “Traditional assessment is linear, focused on hard skills, CVs and qualifications, which leaves little room for the many ways people create value through their judgement, their decisions and how they respond under pressure.

“Turning those capabilities into structured data has never mattered more: as AI agents increasingly work alongside and even manage employees, organisations have to understand people in a way that AI can read. This investment lets us bring that capability to many more organisations, far faster.”

The two organizations say the integration is intended to help employers decide what action to take after a capability gap or development opportunity has been identified.

Lumenai has not specified whether Corpora.ai’s information will be embedded directly in its assessment application, delivered through a separate interface, or used to generate automated recommendations.

Manoochehri adds: “Corpora.ai’s vast AI knowledge base will significantly enhance our ability to help employees and employers accelerate their shared success, especially as more and more organisations prepare for large-scale AI adoption.”

Corpora.ai describes its technology as a graph database of real-time content designed to support research, product development, validation, funding, and commercialization.

Lumenai measures more than 50 capability data points

Lumenai’s core methodology is known as Human Capability Indexing, or HCIx.

The assessment system captures information about individual attitudes, preferences, behaviors, and values before organizing the results into capability taxonomies and indexes.

Lumenai says the resulting data can be benchmarked across different workplace roles and situations, allowing employers to compare areas such as judgment, decision-making, adaptability, collaboration, and leadership.

The assessments are designed to operate as a standalone application rather than requiring an employer to replace its existing human resources or learning systems.

Each assessment captures more than 50 data points, althoug details such as the questions used, completion time, benchmark sample sizes, or how individual measures are weighted have not been disclosed.

The HCIx methodology was developed by Manoochehri, who has worked on assessment and standards frameworks internationally.

Lumenai says its team draws on more than 30 years of combined academic and assessment experience. Research is managed through Lumenai LABS, which the startup says peer reviews and publishes methodologies before they are incorporated into commercial products.

Commercial rollout details remain undisclosed

Lumenai positions its technology as a way for employers to understand which human capabilities should be developed as AI takes on more workplace tasks.

The startup says structured capability data could help organizations determine where AI should support employees and where decisions continue to require human judgment.

The pre-seed funding will be used to bring the assessment capability to more organizations and connect it with Corpora.ai’s research resources. A launch date for the combined service and details of the first participating employers have not yet been announced.
