Keimyung University said on the 22nd that sales at its student startups surpassed 1 billion won, ranking No.1 among universities outside the capital area and fifth among private universities nationwide.
The findings are based on an analysis of the “2026 Status of Student Startups and Startup Support” disclosure data from Higher Education in Korea (Academyinfo). As of last year, sales at Keimyung University’s student startups reached 1.05453 billion won.
The number of student founders totaled 46, while the capital of student startups was tallied at 866 million won.
The results are attributed to the university’s operation of a full-cycle support system in which startup education leads to startup commercialization and then to startup incubation, targeting all members including undergraduates, graduate students and faculty.
The university links startup courses, startup clubs, competitions, startup camps, prototype production support, expert mentoring and startup incubation programs to help ideas turn into actual businesses.
At the graduate level, it has established a system for cultivating specialized startup talent, operating a master’s program in entrepreneurship at the Global Entrepreneurship Graduate School and a doctoral program in entrepreneurship at the general graduate school.
Keimyung University is also building a startup ecosystem in cooperation with local governments.
In partnership with Daegu’s Nam-gu, Jung-gu and Dalseo-gu districts and North Gyeongsang Province’s Chilgok County, it operates youth centers and startup support institutions, providing startup education, counseling and commercialization support.
“Through various startup support programs, we will cultivate startup talent to lead the region’s strategic industries and support the university’s educational and research achievements in leading to startups and commercialization,” Keimyung University President Shin Il-hee said.
