The latest startup hoping to give music-education a tech spin is SoundGate, a company from Armenia that has just launched its first product: an AI-powered guitar tutor.
It’s an iOS and Mac application that “listens as you play, gives instant feedback, and adapts to your style”, including a built-in AI coach that can answer questions.
The business model is… yet to be determined. Or at least yet to be announced – we’re sure SoundGate has plans on that front. For now it’s completely free in an ‘early access’ phase.
“Not freemium-free. Actually free. Every feature unlocked. We’re in early access – we want feedback from real guitarists, not credit card numbers,” wrote co-founder Aren Barseghyan in a post on Product Hunt.
His company has longer-term ambitions to build “AI tools for multiple instruments, collaborative learning, and even live performance”.
SoundGate also says that it is committed to ethical AI – “promoting responsible development and use of AI in music – which hopefully will position it well for partnerships with rightsholders when the time comes.
