Exclusive: AI Healthtech Startup August AI In Talks To Raise $4 Mn From Peak XV

SUMMARY

August AI is in talks to raise about $4 Mn from Peak XV Partners, sources told Inc42.

The potential deal underscores growing investor interest in startups using AI across health assistance, disease detection, and clinical workflows.

The development comes about 10 months after August AI raised $3 Mn in a seed funding round from Accel and Claypond Capital

AI health companion startup August AI is in talks to raise about $4 Mn from Peak XV Partners, sources told Inc42.

The contours of the proposed transaction, including the startup’s valuation and the participation of other investors, could not be ascertained. The discussions are ongoing and the terms of the deal may change, the sources added.

August AI founder Anuruddh Mishra and Peak XV did not respond to Inc42’s queries until the time of publication, while existing investor Accel declined to comment.

The development comes about 10 months after August AI raised $3 Mn (around ₹27 Cr) in a seed funding round from Accel and Claypond Capital, the family office of Manipal Group chairman Ranjan Pai.

Founded in 2022 by IIT-BHU alumnus Mishra, August AI operates an AI-powered health companion that helps users understand symptoms, prescriptions, medications and medical reports. It also offers personalised health insights, nutrition guidance, and medication reminders.

The platform is available through its website, mobile application, and WhatsApp. It supports queries in more than 30 languages and is designed to complement consultations with medical professionals rather than replace them.

August AI uses Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI infrastructure to process health-related queries and cross-reference information from medical sources.

At the time of its previous fundraise in October 2025, the startup claimed to have more than 35 Lakh active users, including over 1 Lakh doctors.

The development comes at a time when a new crop of healthtech startups is using AI across consumer health assistance, disease detection, clinical workflows, and healthcare research, opening up new opportunities beyond traditional teleconsultation and online-pharmacy models.

These ventures have also attracted investor interest. Practo cofounder Shashank ND’s new venture Cent, which uses AI and health data for the early detection of critical diseases, recently raised about $5 Mn from OneFlow Holdings and South Park Commons.

Similarly, Reveal Healthtech raised $7.2 Mn in a Leo Capital-led round last year to develop AI-led products and services for healthcare and life sciences organisations.

August AI’s proposed fundraise reflects this growing investor appetite for startups using AI to improve healthcare access, support early diagnosis and make existing clinical processes more efficient.
