Dealroom.co | VRC buys AI startup AskTuring to expand its tech stack

What’s the deal? Vital Records Control (VRC Companies, LLC) has acquired AskTuring, an AI platform company, the Memphis-based information governance provider announced on August 25, 2026. Terms were not disclosed.

What each does: VRC offers secure records storage, document shredding, digital transformation, and release of information services across North America. AskTuring builds AI that helps organizations securely access, understand, and use information held in their data repositories.

What’s the endgame? VRC plans to integrate AskTuring into VitalControl®, its platform for managing physical and digital records, whether stored at VRC, held internally, or maintained by third parties. It also sees AskTuring as a foundation to build further AI-driven capabilities across its digital services.

What they’re saying: “The acquisition of AskTuring gives us additional AI capabilities that complement our existing technology and creates new opportunities for us to continue developing solutions that make information easier to control and manage,” said VRC chief executive officer Danny Palo. He called the deal “a gamechanger for VRC’s customers.”

The signal: The acquisition reflects how established records and document-management firms are absorbing AI startups to move beyond storage toward tools that help customers interact with their data.
