Yuvraj Singh at 44: From cricket superstar to entrepreneur, how he built YouWeCan

Yuvraj Singh’s public identity was built on cricket, but his second innings has increasingly centred on entrepreneurship, investing and philanthropy. The former India all-rounder’s YouWeCan initiative has expanded from cancer-focused work into a wider platform for startup investments and consumer businesses.

Known for his six sixes in an over, match-winning performances and comeback after cancer, Singh has channelled the financial success of his cricket career into investments and businesses. His net worth is estimated at around Rs 291 crore, with earnings coming from endorsements, IPL contracts, investments and real estate.

Singh has been associated with brands including Pepsi, Reebok and Puma. His endorsement earnings have been estimated at close to Rs 1 crore a month, although this is not a publicly disclosed income figure.

His IPL career has also contributed significantly to his wealth. Singh played for Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. His reported IPL earnings across these stints stand at around Rs 84.6 crore.

His biggest IPL payday came in 2015, when Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 16 crore, making him the most expensive player in that year’s auction.

YouWeCan: From cancer experience to philanthropy

Singh’s experience with cancer shaped his work away from cricket. He established the YouWeCan Foundation to focus on cancer awareness, screening, treatment support and survivor empowerment.

Alongside the foundation, Singh entered the startup ecosystem through YouWeCan Ventures, launched in 2015 as an investment vehicle for early-stage businesses. Its investments have covered sectors including healthcare, education, lifestyle, sports, travel and e-commerce.

Healthcare has been a prominent part of Singh’s investment portfolio. He invested in healthcare services marketplace Healthians in 2015 and later said the investment had generated a return of more than 100 times.

His investments have also included JetSetGo, Vyomo, EduKart and Cartisan. Some startup bets did not succeed, prompting Singh to adopt a more selective investment approach and spend more time with individual businesses.

His role has also evolved from investor to entrepreneur. In 2024, Singh became a co-founder of healthy snacking brand Twiddles, with his investment and shareholding linked to YouWeCan Ventures.

Singh’s wealth is also reflected in his property and automobile holdings. He owns two apartments at Mumbai’s Omkar 1973 project, reported to span around 16,000 square feet and valued at about Rs 64 crore. His Chandigarh residence has featured on Asian Paints’ “Where the Heart Is”.

His reported car collection includes a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, estimated at Rs 3.21 crore to Rs 3.41 crore, and a Lamborghini Murcielago estimated at around Rs 3.6 crore, along with BMW and Audi cars.
