New Delhi: Sanyark Space, co-founded by former ISRO scientist Akhileshwar Reddy and Masters’ Union Cohort 3 student Raghava Kundrapu, has raised $2 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Avaana and AUM Ventures.

Avaana invested $1.5 million in the round, while AUM Ventures invested $500,000.

The company is building a software-defined low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation that combines precision navigation and secure IoT communication on a single platform.

Its Navigation-Communication (NAV-COM) system is being developed for both defence and commercial applications, positioning the startup at the intersection of deeptech, space technology and strategic infrastructure.

Sanyark’s proposition is built around combining navigation and communication capabilities within a single satellite constellation. The company aims to develop space infrastructure that can support applications requiring precision navigation as well as secure communication.

The startup said the funding will support the development of its NAV-COM system and its broader objective of building strategic space infrastructure for India.

Kundrapu, who was part of Masters’ Union’s third cohort, co-founded Sanyark with Reddy, a former ISRO scientist. The company is focused on developing the satellite platform and technology needed to integrate navigation and communication capabilities within a single constellation.

The NAV-COM system is being developed for applications across both defence and commercial sectors, with Sanyark seeking to address requirements around precision positioning, navigation and secure IoT connectivity.

The $2 million round marks the company’s pre-seed funding and will be used to advance the development of its satellite constellation and underlying technology.

Sanyark’s approach centres on integrating navigation and communication capabilities into the same LEO satellite infrastructure, with the broader aim of developing strategic space infrastructure for India.
