However, the challenges of quality control, securing sensitive data, and defining legal liability in the event of medical incidents always pose a “life-or-death” test for this model.

Connecting multiple stakeholders, empowering users.

Sharing his vision for operation, Mr. Le Van Nang, the founder of Omedic, said that the platform is designed to optimize the freedom of choice for patients throughout their healthcare journey.

“Users can choose a testing center based on their doctor’s recommendations or find a suitable facility themselves. For health products, they can refer to the platform’s suggestions based on pharmacy location, brand name, and price, and can flexibly change sellers before confirming their choice. Customers have full control over the next steps on Omedic,” Mr. Nang emphasized.

For prescription drugs, the platform strictly adheres to legal regulations by not allowing online retail transactions. After obtaining a prescription, users will purchase the medication themselves at pharmacies through the platform’s recommended list or proactively choose a purchase location outside the system.

In the home service delivery phase, healthcare workers collect test samples under the direct management of the service provider. Omedic acts as a technological bridge and receives feedback from customers, while the professional procedures are entirely the responsibility of the testing unit.

In terms of logistics, Omedic currently collaborates with Giao Hang Tiet Kiem (GHTK) to transport common health products such as dietary supplements and medical equipment. Further partnerships with specialized shipping companies are also included in its development plan.

Tighten the assessment process for “entry” applications.

Unlike ordinary consumer goods, the pharmaceutical industry is subject to extremely strict regulations. To ensure user safety, Omedic applies a multi-layered inspection process.

All supplier information, from business licenses and GPP certificates to doctors’ practice certificates, is directly verified by the professional department on the portal of the Department of Health or other specialized management agencies.

After this step, the product and service catalog still has to go through a separate review process based on the publication number, brand name, and features/functions. Any content changes from the seller will trigger this review process again.

Simultaneously, service information is thoroughly cross-checked for compatibility with the partner’s professional expertise and license. The platform also maintains a regular post-audit mechanism to check and update the operational status of service providers using data from relevant departments and agencies.

Health data and boundaries of responsibility

In the process of connecting healthcare steps, Omedic prioritizes the security of sensitive personal data. The system implements strict access control among three groups: patients, doctors, and the administrative department.

Users have complete control over their health data. Consulting physicians can only access records when patients proactively enable sharing, while other service providers have no access at all.

The administration team only accesses data for technical support purposes when users encounter problems. The entire infrastructure operates on AWS servers, with CMC providing multi-layered security and regular backup mechanisms.

Facing the risk of complaints or medical incidents, Omedic clearly defines its position as an intermediary. The platform will participate in the mediation process, record feedback, provide complete transaction information to all parties and authorities upon request, and apply strict penalties to partners if violations of operating regulations are verified.

Find your own niche and stay ahead of the giants.

The current MedTech market is witnessing the strong rise of large pharmaceutical retail chains with their own internal applications. Amidst these “giants,” Omedic has chosen a business model that collects commissions from orders and listing fees from service providers (only applicable to transactions generated through the platform), combined with revenue from promotional activities and demand stimulation programs.

This startup’s strategy is to connect diverse suppliers so that services form a mutually supportive chain, helping users consolidate their healthcare journey on a single platform.

However, this also presents a “chicken and egg” dilemma: the platform must be attractive enough to retain users while simultaneously generating a stable stream of transactions to attract suppliers.

Over the next 2-3 years, Omedic aims to expand its user base and partnerships, focusing on developing remote medical consultation services before patients seek more specialized care, thereby maximizing time and cost savings.

However, for that vision to become a tangible value, Omedic still needs to ensure the smooth operation of the connecting links, while also transparently disclosing information about suppliers, data access rights, and risk management mechanisms. This is because in the healthcare industry, technological convenience is only truly valuable when coupled with the ability to build lasting trust in each transaction.
