How start-up Green Drive Mobility is building a scalable EV mobility network across India

Adgully has been turning the spotlight on visionary entrepreneurs who dared to challenge conventions and build brands that resonate with modern India in our special series – START-UP STARS. Championing the spirit of the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement, Adgully continues to celebrate homegrown brands that are redefining innovation, quality and consumer trust.

India’s commercial mobility landscape is undergoing a decisive shift, with businesses looking for more sustainable and efficient ways to transport goods and people. With road transport contributing significantly to carbon emissions and quick-commerce scaling at an unprecedented pace, businesses require more than just electric vehicles, they need a resilient, integrated operational ecosystem.

Moving beyond urban last-mile delivery, Green Drive Mobility has emerged as a key catalyst in this transition. By combining end-to-end fleet deployment, route-based reliability and smart intercity transit with its proprietary Green Drive Connect platform, the homegrown brand is solving real-world infrastructure bottlenecks, bringing transparency and demonstrating how electric fleets can power structured commercial transit at scale.

In conversation with Adgully, Ala Harikrishna, Founder & CEO, Green Drive Mobility, discusses the operational challenges of scaling commercial EV adoption, the role of technology in building fleet reliability and how the company is expanding its mobility solutions across delivery, corporate transport and intercity operations. He also shares his perspective on helping enterprises navigate the shift towards electric mobility and Green Drive Mobility’s ambitions for the future of India’s commercial EV ecosystem.

With over 18 years in project management and engineering, what specific white space or operational gap convinced you to venture into the EV fleet space back in 2020 and how did the initial vision for Green Drive Mobility take shape?

When we stepped into the EV space in 2020, we realised that the problem wasn’t about adding more EVs to the fleet, but about creating an operational ecosystem around it. Fleet management, charging, monitoring, maintenance and driver support were key areas that businesses needed to be able to efficiently adopt EVs. Drawing from our know-how in engineering and project management, we saw an opportunity to bridge the gap with a consolidated solution, which became the cornerstone of Green Drive Mobility. Starting out in Bengaluru with a fleet of 100 EV 2Ws and 3Ws, our focus was always on providing end-to-end EV solutions for first/last/inter-city mobility and beyond.

You recently deployed an electric fleet covering 400 km daily between Bengaluru and Mysuru for More Retail. What operational and narrative shifts are required when expanding a brand from urban last-mile delivery to mid-mile and intercity commercial transit?

What is changing is the emphasis on meeting these requirements through route-based reliability rather than by working at very high frequencies over short distances. Last-mile operations put a premium on utilisation, turnaround time and route density. Mid-mile and intercity operations need to focus more on range planning, charging suitability, vehicle availability, trip supervision and preventative maintenance. At Green Drive, our technology-enabled fleet management helps us maintain visibility across these parameters. The Bengaluru-Mysuru deployment with More Retail, where five EVs collectively cover around 400 km daily, is helping us apply this operational discipline to structured intercity transportation and demonstrate the potential of EVs beyond last-mile delivery.

In mobility, marketing often promises speed, but operations require precision. How central is your proprietary platform, Green Drive Connect, in proving fleet reliability and real-time accountability to your partners?

Green Drive Connect is central to how we bring operational visibility and accountability into fleet management. The platform gives our teams and partners visibility into vehicle location and trip movement, battery status, utilisation, vehicle performance, driver activity and preventive maintenance requirements. This helps us move from simply tracking vehicles to understanding how the fleet is performing in real time and where operational intervention may be required. For our partners, that visibility builds greater confidence in vehicle availability and fleet utilisation. Ultimately, technology allows us to support the reliability that commercial EV operations demand, rather than relying only on what is promised on paper.

Your portfolio spans everything from Delivery-as-a-Service to premium corporate passenger mobility. How do your go-to-market strategies and client acquisition approaches differ when addressing corporate employee transit versus quick-commerce delivery fleets?

The two segments require very different go-to-market approaches because their operational priorities are different. India’s quick-commerce market is estimated at ₹1.08 lakh crore in 2026 and growing 40% YoY, making delivery speed, fleet availability and scalability critical. For these clients, we focus on vehicle deployment, utilisation, turnaround time and operational efficiency. In corporate passenger mobility, the focus shifts toward reliability, safety, service quality, scheduled routes and a consistent employee experience. At Green Drive, we therefore tailor our fleet, technology and operational model to the client’s specific requirements rather than applying one approach across mobility segments.

Sustainability is a massive focus for consumer-facing brands today, with many leveraging green logistics in their ESG and brand purpose messaging. How does Green Drive Mobility help enterprise partners communicate their sustainability impact to end consumers?

For enterprise partners, sustainability communication is also stronger when it is supported by specific operational impact rather than vague assertions. An estimated 123 million tonnes of CO2 are emitted annually from road transport in India, based on 2026 BEE data. Green Drive helps partners convert relevant commercial operations to EVs, providing fleet technology and operational insight, giving them a robust platform for communication through data like EV deployment, kilometres travelled, fleet usage and more. As partners scale commercial EV deployment, we can do this seamlessly so that brands can communicate their EV transition with transparency and authenticity.

As India’s electric commercial ecosystem matures, what are the key milestones Green Drive Mobility is building toward over the next few years and where do you see the brand in India’s broader green transition?

India’s commercial EV ecosystem is moving from early adoption toward scale. E-freight vehicle deployments increased more than fourfold from 201 in FY25 to 826 in FY26, according to NITI Aayog. At Green Drive, our focus is to build on this momentum by scaling our EV fleet, expanding our 4W cargo and passenger mobility operations, strengthening intercity transportation and expanding technology-enabled fleet management. Over the next few years, we aim to build a scalable EV mobility network across India. We see Green Drive playing a practical role in the transition by helping businesses electrify different transportation requirements with reliable, end-to-end solutions.
