Meta has recently announced it will acquire the China-founded artificial intelligence startup Manus as part of its push to integrate advanced AI into its products.

While Meta did not disclose the financial terms, a source familiar with the matter stated the deal values the Singapore-based company between $2 billion and $3 billion, as per a Reuters report on the matter.

Manus, which was originally founded in China, gained attention earlier this year for its AI agent designed to perform tasks autonomously with minimal user prompting. The company relocated its headquarters from China to Singapore earlier this year, a move several Chinese tech firms have made amid ongoing US-China tensions. Manus claims its AI agent outperforms OpenAI’s DeepResearch and has a strategic partnership with Alibaba. Its products are not available in China.

Meta stated it will operate the Manus service and integrate the technology into its consumer and business products, including its Meta AI assistant. The acquisition is part of a broader trend of major tech companies securing AI talent and technology through strategic deals, states the Reuters report.

Earlier this year, Manus raised $75 million in a funding round led by Benchmark, which valued the company at approximately $500 million. Other investors include HSG, ZhenFund, and Tencent Holdings.
