Attending Stimson Center’s ‘Korea-U.S. Defense Roundtable’ as representative of Korean startups
Defense tech company Bon AI announced on the 27th that Dokyung Lee represented a Korean defense start-up at the “Korea-U.S. Defense Cooperation Roundtable” hosted by the Stimson Center in Washington, DC on the 25th (local time).
Hosted by the Stimson Center specialized in international security, the event was organized to discuss the expansion of cooperation in the shipbuilding and defense industries between Korea and the United States.
The event was attended by defense experts and industry opinion leaders working at the U.S. Defense Innovation Corps (DIU), officials from the Stimson Center, and key figures from the Korea-U.S. shipbuilding and defense industry experts group to explore ways to cooperate in defense innovation between the two countries.
At the session under the theme of “Next-generation defense cooperation: Integrating startups in the Korea-U.S. defense industry ecosystem,” the key agenda was how to implement the DIU innovation model, an innovative defense acquisition system of the U.S., in the Korean defense ecosystem.
Lee, the only Korean start-up invited, joined a panel with local defense experts in the U.S. to exchange in-depth opinions.
CEO Lee emphasized the strength of Korea’s manufacturing infrastructure and suggested the role and contribution plan of Bon AI as a defense deep-tech startup.
“Korea has world-class infrastructure within a radius of 250 kilometers, ranging from materials, parts, and equipment to major hardware design, manufacturing, and software development capabilities,” CEO Lee said. “Using these geographical strengths, we can develop full-stack defense solutions within the shortest time and supply a large amount of systems necessary for both countries’ security.”
“In line with the next-generation Warfare environment that is becoming intelligent, we are aggressively investing in building a mass production system for major hardware such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned robot vehicles (UGVs), and unmanned watercraft (USVs) and upgrading deep technology R&D,” he added. “With the unique speed and innovation of startups, it will be a strong pillar of the Korea-U.S. defense alliance.”
Bon AI is a comprehensive physical AI system company that integrates robotics hardware, artificial intelligence brains that control it, and command and control (C2) operation programs. In recognition of its technological prowess, it recorded 3 billion won in sales through government demonstration and local government project orders last year, the first year of its foundation.
