Bangalore-based healthcare automation startup Coral has secured USD 12.5 million in funding from Lightspeed and Z47 to expand its footprint in the US healthcare market, focusing on reducing administrative inefficiencies through AI-powered workflow automation.
Founded by Ajay Shrihari and Aniket Mohanty, Coral has positioned itself to address these challenges by building automation tools that integrate directly with existing Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and payer platforms.
Rather than requiring providers to overhaul their infrastructure, the startup’s approach works within legacy systems, enabling seamless adoption.

When required data is missing, the system actively retrieves information from relevant stakeholders, ensuring continuity in workflows.
“Every person in the healthcare system is being slowed down by the same thing: administrative work that was never built to scale. The coordinator chasing faxes. The patient waiting on a referral. The clinician buried in prior authorizations. When you automate the right things, all of them win at once. That is what Coral is building, and we are just getting started,” said Ajay Shrihari, Founder and CEO of Coral.
Coral initially focused on the durable medical equipment segment, a domain heavily dependent on manual and fax-driven processes. Following early validation, the startup expanded into infusion centres and speciality pharmacies, where similar inefficiencies were identified across workflows.
The newly raised capital will be used to expand Coral’s engineering team and onboard healthcare operations experts.
Product development is currently centred on building an AI workflow builder that allows providers to design customized automation, alongside a co-pilot layer that analyzes operational data such as claim denials and referral trends to generate actionable insights.
As Coral continues to expand into additional specialities such as radiology, its approach underscores a broader shift in digital health, reframing administrative inefficiencies as solvable workflow challenges.
