Ranchi: Hemant Soren has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to promote research, startups, innovation, and technology-driven education in the state’s higher and technical institutions.

The directive was issued during a meeting of the Jharkhand Council on Science, Technology and Innovation, where discussions were held on strengthening the scientific and innovation ecosystem in Jharkhand.

Linking Science and Innovation with Real-World Needs

Chairing the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to align science and innovation with societal and governance needs.

He stated that Jharkhand has no shortage of talent, resources, or potential, but requires proper direction, institutional support, and opportunities to unlock its full capabilities.

Roadmap for AI Education and Innovation Policy Discussed

The meeting included detailed discussions on:

  • Jharkhand Student Research and Innovation Policy 2026
  • Introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) studies in higher education institutions
  • Creating an innovation-friendly academic environment

These initiatives aim to prepare students and researchers for future technological advancements and knowledge-based development.

Mobile Science Exhibition Buses to Reach All Districts

CM Hemant Soren directed officials to expand the mobile science exhibition programme to all 24 districts of the state.

He noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in spreading scientific awareness, especially among students, by taking science directly to the grassroots level.

Push for Technology and Innovation in Agriculture

The Chief Minister also stressed promoting technological and mechanical innovations in agriculture to make farming more efficient, modern, and productive.

He highlighted the importance of integrating science with agriculture to improve outcomes for farmers across the state.

Focus on Science Cities and Educational Exposure for Students

Reviewing the progress of science centres and planetariums under construction, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure broader public engagement.

He suggested that:

  • Science cities should attract people of all age groups
  • Government school students should be taken on educational visits to science cities and planetariums across India
  • Efforts should be made to develop scientific curiosity and innovation mindset among youth

The Jharkhand government reiterated its commitment to supporting science, technology, research, and innovation.
