India’s SaaS market is projected to grow to $50 Bn to $70 Bn in annual revenue by 2030, from roughly $14 Bn today, per Inc42’s SaaS ecosystem report. About 85% of Indian SaaS ventures have already adopted AI to stay competitive.
The capital backing that shift is scaling too. SaaS startups raised about $2.1 Bn in 2024, up 31% year on year, within close to $1.8 Bn raised across the enterprise tech sector. That national momentum matters for a young hub like Ahmedabad, because the AI-led rebuild of enterprise software erodes the advantage incumbents once held and lets later-starting cities compete for the same global customers from day one.
Ahmedabad’s SaaS base is younger but building fast. AI-compliance startup Satark AI automates regulatory and risk workflows, enterprise-communications pioneer Awaaz De runs voice and messaging tools used across rural and enterprise outreach, and early bets like logistics-reconciliation platform DSYH, which raised $250K in seed capital, are chipping away at niche back-office problems.
The wider city ecosystem gives that cohort room to grow. Ahmedabad-based startups raised about $930 Mn across roughly 160 deals between 2014 and 2024, and pulled in $92 Mn across 19 deals in 2024, spread across fintech, SaaS, healthtech and edtech as the city moved beyond its manufacturing and textile roots. Institutional scaffolding is unusually strong for an emerging hub, with premier campuses including IIM-A, MICA, NID and GTU whose incubators feed early-stage founders, while MeitY’s Startup Hub has extended its national funding-support programme to the city. Ahmedabad ranks seventh in India, and 146th globally, by the strength of its local startup ecosystem in data cited by Inc42, helped by its proximity to the policy machinery in the state capital Gandhinagar.
Gujarat has leaned in early on policy too. It was the first Indian state to notify an IT and startup policy, in June 2016, followed by a Student Startup and Innovation Policy backed by a INR 200 Cr ($29.3 Mn) state innovation fund, and it has since earmarked INR 500 Cr for climate-action startups.
