Thirty start-ups and scale-ups have joined a £4.5m-backed healthtech programme in West Yorkshire, beginning six months of accelerator support.
Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire welcomed its third cohort at a launch event at Nexus, University of Leeds, on Thursday 15 October 2026.
The programme is delivered by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber in partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, following £4.5m of investment secured in 2025 through the UK Government’s Investment Zone.
The new cohort comprises 15 early-stage businesses on the Start-Up programme and 15 more established companies on the Scale-Up programme.
Participants will receive tailored support, expert-led masterclasses and access to regional and national networks, alongside expertise in legal matters, marketing, commissioning and routes into the NHS.
Dr Neville Young, director of enterprise and innovation at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our third cohort of innovators to Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire.
“The quality and ambition demonstrated throughout the selection process underlines the strength of talent working to improve health and care.”
Young said the programme was building on its partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority as it entered its second year.
He added: “What sets us apart is the depth of expertise available to our innovators, from legal and marketing support to commissioning and routes into the NHS.
“By combining that expertise with support tailored to each company’s stage of development, we help innovators take practical steps towards adoption and growth.”
Previous participants have secured investment, won commissions with NHS partners and made progress towards bringing their technologies into practice, according to Young.
He said: “We’re also seeing the impact beyond the programme, with alumni securing investment, winning commissions with NHS partners and making progress towards getting their innovations into practice.
“Their achievements demonstrate what this community can help innovators accomplish, and we look forward to supporting our latest cohort as they take their next steps.”
