Paar Autonomy Raises ₹10 Crore to Expand AI-Powered Camera Systems and GPS-Free Drone Navigation - Indian Startup Times

Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup Paar Autonomy has raised ₹10 crore in a funding round led by AdvantEdge Founders. The company plans to use the capital to scale up production of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered camera systems and develop navigation technology that allows drones to operate without relying on GPS signals.

Founded in June 2024 by Vignesh Sivaram Jayaraman, Paar Autonomy develops camera systems and AI software for drones and other unmanned platforms. Its technology enables these systems to identify objects, interpret their surroundings and track targets, including in environments where satellite navigation or communication links may be disrupted.

The latest fundraise follows a ₹3.5 crore pre-seed round led by Venture Catalysts. The earlier funding helped the company establish its first manufacturing line and deliver pilot units. With the new capital, Paar Autonomy aims to expand its production capabilities while advancing its navigation technology.

A key area of development for the startup is GPS-independent navigation. Drones and other autonomous platforms can face operational challenges when GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable. Paar Autonomy is developing visual-inertial navigation systems that use camera inputs and sensor data to help platforms understand their movement and surroundings without depending on satellite-based positioning.

The company’s technology portfolio includes AI systems that process information on the device itself, sensor-based navigation capabilities and gyro-stabilised camera payloads. These systems are designed for unmanned platforms operating in environments where dependable connectivity and navigation signals cannot always be guaranteed.

Paar Autonomy’s product portfolio includes the Sentinel series of camera and perception systems, comprising Sentinel 1, Sentinel 2, Sentinel Nano, Sentinel Nano Dark and Sentinel Nano Dual. The products are designed for integration across different unmanned platforms, including aerial systems, ground vehicles and maritime applications.

The startup primarily focuses on defence requirements such as border surveillance and tactical tracking. Its technology also has potential applications in industrial inspection, infrastructure monitoring and disaster response, where autonomous systems can help collect information and operate in challenging environments.

The funding comes amid growing investor interest in India’s defence technology and autonomous systems sector. Startups in this space are developing indigenous technologies across navigation, robotics, sensing and unmanned platforms, with a focus on improving operational capabilities and reducing dependence on external systems.

For Paar Autonomy, the immediate priority is to increase manufacturing capacity and continue developing navigation technology for unmanned platforms. The company’s progress will depend on its ability to translate its technology into deployable systems while meeting the requirements of defence and other industrial applications.
